Tired of Taking Pills? Treat the Cause of Your Pain

Posted on 01.19.18 |

pain managementAre you sick of endless doctor appointments and prescriptions that haven’t successfully treated your pain? Conventional medical approaches can often identify the causes of pain but they don’t always fix the problem. If your approach to pain management has been dependent on prescriptions, you may be missing out on other potential therapies.

Call Doyle Chiropractic and Acupuncture at 817-767-5430 to see if alternative therapies can help reduce your pain.

If your medical condition has gone on for too long with little improvement, it may be time to try chiropractic care to reboot and realign the mechanical processes of your body. Whether your condition stems from an injury, overuse, or degeneration, chiropractic care may be able to correct the biomechanical problems that keep your body from healing and functioning properly.

A lot of people mistakenly believe that chiropractic care is only for back and neck conditions, but the truth is that it can help a number of conditions you may not be aware of.

Using chiropractic adjustments and complementary therapies, Dr. Cody Doyle has successfully treated patients suffering from:

  • Arthritis
  • Sciatica and bursitis
  • Tendonitis and shin splints
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome
  • Shoulder and knee problems
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Peripheral neuropathy
  • Migraines and headaches

Chiropractic Treats More Than Back and Neck Pain

If you are not familiar with chiropractic you may be wondering, how does it work? How can spinal adjustments treat symptoms that may occur in the foot, for example? All movement and function in the human body flows through the spine. All nerve functions flow through the spinal cord, as do all messages and impulses from the brain to the body. Misalignment of the vertebrae can lead to musculoskeletal or nerve dysfunction that may be felt in any part of the body. Correcting your back and neck alignment can improve your whole body’s efficiency in movement and function.

Schedule a Consultation to Learn More

If you are desperate to try something new to ease your pain, make an appointment with Dr. Cody Doyle. At your consultation, Dr. Doyle will ask about your condition and how it has been treated thus far. He will examine your affected area(s), and may take x-rays or digital imaging to get a better look at your bones and tissues. Before applying any chiropractic treatment, Dr. Doyle will fully explain his recommended approach to healing your condition, pain management, and/or recovering a healthier range of movement.

In some cases, patients may need multiple treatments before they feel relief. In others, some relief may be instantaneous. Depending on your condition, Dr. Doyle may also recommend complementary therapies to assist in healing and restoring proper function. This may include acupuncture, myofascial release therapy, ultrasound therapy, premodulated muscle stimulation, or others. Dr. Doyle has treated more than 100,000 patients in the past two decades, and has a unique approach to holistic and musculoskeletal healing. New to Chiropractic Care? These 5 Things May Surprise You

Posted on 01.5.18 |

woman on laptopIf you suffer from a painful or nagging condition that persists, despite medical interventions, you may want to consider alternative therapies, such as chiropractic care. Unfortunately, there are a lot of misperceptions out there when it comes to chiropractic treatments. If you have never considered this type of therapy, here are five things that may surprise you about chiropractic care.

Are you willing to try something new to treat your painful or persistent condition? Contact our office to set up an appointment with Justin TX chiropractor Dr. Cody Doyle. To reach our Roanoke TX office, contact us online or call (817) 767-5430. For the La Grange TX office, you can contact us by calling (979) 968-6400.

1. It’s about more than just your back and neck. A lot of people think chiropractic treatments are only for pain and injury in the back and neck. Not so! Pain and dysfunction in virtually any part of the body may have its roots in spinal misalignment. Your central nervous system starts in the brain and travels down the spinal column (spinal cord) to reach out to every part of the body. The spinal bones and nerves control every function of your body from head to toe. If the joints of the spine are not aligning and moving properly and your physiological function is altered, a chiropractic treatment may help you achieve more ideal function at the source of your pain.

Some of the conditions that can be treated with chiropractic care include:

  • Arthritis
  • Headaches and migraines
  • Allergies
  • Plantar fasciitis
  • Disc issues
  • Bursitis, sciatica, and hip strains
  • Knee and ankle conditions
  • Carpal tunnel syndrome and tennis elbow
  • Neuropathy
  • Stress and anxiety
  • Weight management

2. Chiropractic treatments do not hurt. If you’ve never experienced a chiropractic treatment, but have seen them depicted on TV or in movies, you may have a misguided impression of what happens during a session. There is no fierce jerking or bone snapping involved—just gentle pressure applied to specific spinal bones. After their first visit, most patients find the treatments to be gentler and shorter than they had anticipated.

3. Chiropractors know a lot about your whole body. The training to become a licensed and certified chiropractor is very similar to that of a medical doctor, in that they must take classes on a wide range of scientific and medical knowledge. These include anatomy, neurology, physiology, biochemistry, orthopedics, microbiology, and much more. This training gives them the knowledge to understand how different body systems work together and display dysfunction in different areas of the body. Ask Dr. Cody Doyle about his training at University of Texas at Arlington and Texas Chiropractic College in Pasadena to learn more about his education. Dr. Doyle has been treating patients for over 20 years in the Roanoke, LaGrange, and Justin TX area.

4. Chiropractic treatments can help you stay well. When the structural and biomechanical elements of the body function properly, it can help all your body systems function better. Dr. Doyle specializes in integrative therapies that treat the whole patient. Many find that not only do their initial dysfunctions/conditions improve with a series of treatments, but they also see improvement in their energy levels, stress management, and immune functioning. For example, many athletes choose chiropractic care to help them improve their balance and coordination as well as prevent and treat injuries.

5. A new injury or condition is often not as new as you think. If you have recently started to experience a great deal of pain (in the knee or shoulder, for example), your suffering may feel new—but pain is often the last symptom of dysfunction. Many injuries and painful conditions in the ligaments, joints, and muscles are the result of long-term biomechanical dysfunction. Chiropractic and integrative treatments can help correct the cause of your pain. With more and more people turning away from medication-based pain management, there is good cause to want to get to the root cause of your injury rather than just avoid the pain it causes.

If standard medical interventions have not fixed your painful condition, Justin TX chiropractor Dr. Cody Doyle would love to have the opportunity to help you get well! For our Roanoke TX office contact us online or call (817) 767-5430. Contact our office today or schedule your consultation online.

He has spent the last 20 years exploring alternative treatments for his patients in order to provide a wide range of options. Please continue reading to learn more, or contact your Argyle chiropractor online or at (817) 767-5430 to book your appointment.

Common Treatment Combinations

Each patient is treated individually, so treatment plans will vary. While one patient may respond to a combination of chiropractic care and acupuncture, someone else may respond with massage therapy and herbal remedies. Argyle chiropractor Dr. Doyle takes a comprehensive approach to planning patient care. Some of the more common treatment combinations include:

  • Chiropractic: We use a combination of manual and mechanical techniques, including the Diversified, Activator, Thompson, or Gonstead methods to realign the spine. Your spine protects your central nervous system, which is responsible for sending messages from your brain to other organs in your body. When lines of communication are disrupted, it can lead to pain, inflammation, and disease. By keeping your spine straight and healthy, communication can remain fluid for proper function.
  • Acupuncture: Based on ancient Chinese medicine, this alternative method can address a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. Your body is intended to have a natural energy flow for proper function. When this flow is disrupted, it can cause pain and systemic issues. By inserting tiny needles into the acu-points on the surface of the skin, Dr. Doyle can stimulate underlying tissues and ignite healthy energy flow.
  • Herbal Remedies: In addition to other forms of treatment, Dr. Doyle may recommend vitamins and natural supplements to help reach your goals.
  • Auriculotherapy (Ear Acupuncture): By inserting small, sterile stainless steel needles into certain musculoskeletal points around your ear, it can curb cravings and promote healthy weight loss.
  • Myofascial Release Therapy:This treatment improves flexibility and function to your muscles that have experienced trauma or injury. This hands-on technique uses mild to moderate pressure to the myofascial tissues to improve flexibility and function to your injured muscles to reduce chronic pain. It is frequently combined with chiropractic care.

What Chiropractic Really Is…and Isn’t

Posted on 11.22.17 |

Patient receiving benefits of Justin chiropractic.

Is someone else’s negative view of chiropractic care keeping you from learning more about it? While chiropractic care has been around for decades and is a proven systemic method for improving health, it is not always viewed with an open mind as a viable treatment solution.

Your spine houses your central nervous system and is responsible for sending messages back and forth from your brain to other organs in your body to instruct how to function. If signals are interrupted, it could lead to pain, dysfunctional organs, and the development of certain medical conditions. With chiropractic care, a licensed chiropractor can adjust the vertebrae in your spine to help keep it properly aligned. Although chiropractic care is not considered a cure for a specific malady or disease, scientific and medical evidence have indicated that spinal adjustments can reduce pain and improve quality of life.

To learn more about Justin chiropractic care, please schedule a consultation with Dr. Cody Doyle. You can reach us by filling out our online form or calling 817-767-5430. We proudly serve clients living in the Roanoke, Keller, Argyle, and Southlake area. In this blog, we will discuss the common myths and realities about what chiropractic care is and isn’t.

Myth: Chiropractic must be harmful since popping your joints is bad for you.

Although it’s true that popping your knuckles is bad for you, when joints are correctly adjusted, it can increase range of motion and relieve pain and stiffness. Chiropractic adjustments are only performed on joints that are functioning improperly. You should never attempt to pop your back or neck on your own, this can lead to serious complications, such as hypermobility or looseness in the spine. If you have an urge to crack your knuckles or pop your neck, this is usually a sign that the spine is misaligned.

Myth: Chiropractic is unsafe.

Whether taking medication, undergoing surgery, or seeking chiropractic care, there is always the risk for adverse side effects or complications. However, the malpractice rates associated with chiropractic are low, which indicate it is a remarkably safe treatment. Before undergoing treatment, it is important that you seek treatment from a licensed and qualified chiropractor with a high level of experience.

Myth: Chiropractic care is only for those with back pain.

The benefits of Justin chiropractic go beyond relief of back pain. In fact, not everyone who sees a chiropractor has back pain. You can read more about that in the next section. Chiropractic care can improve overall body function. Patients who suffer from allergies, arthritis, migraines, and obesity have seen improvements by correcting back and neck misalignment.

Myth: I’d have to get my back cracked if I went to the chiropractor.

When meeting with the chiropractor for the first time, discuss your fears and concerns. Many who have a fear of their neck or back being manually adjusted can undergo alternative treatments in-office that will have the same effect. Chiropractors can use a wide variety of techniques, including light force and soft tissue manipulation that produce effective results with no popping sounds. Techniques are intended to meet the patient’s age, comfort level, and unique condition.

Learn More About Chiropractic Care

We encourage anyone interested in learning more about Justin chiropractic care to schedule a private consultation with Dr. Doyle. He will sit down and discuss the treatment in detail and answer any questions you may have to ensure you are comfortable. Please contact our office today online or call 817-767-5430.

4 Ways to Improve Degenerative Disc Disease

Posted on 09.12.17 |

X-ray highlighting Roanoke degenerative disc diseaseThe term degenerative disc disease is somewhat misleading, as it is not technically a disease, nor is it strictly degenerative. However, it can be corrected with holistic treatment and lifestyle changes.

The bones of the spine are called vertebrae. The discs between those bones act as shock absorbers. As we age, the discs between the vertebrae lose fluid, drying them out and making them shrink. Also, wear and tear accumulates over the years and adds to the problem.

However, other things can cause damage as well. For instance, lack of exercise, smoking, hormone imbalances, and high impact physical activity can cause disc degeneration.

As fluid decreases within the spinal discs, the outer shells deteriorate. This prevents it from absorbing shock and places pressure on the lumbar spine, cervical spine, or thoracic spine.

The additional pressure and lack of shock absorption can lead to chronic neck and back pain. It can also lead to limited mobility and tingling in the extremities. Pain may worsen during certain activities, making sitting, bending, or twisting difficult.

Degenerative disc disease (DDD) is one of the most common causes of back and neck pain. In fact, it affects nearly 30 million Americans each year. Further damage to a patient with DDD can lead to a herniated disc.

Here, Dr. Cody Doyle discusses treatment options that can reduce your pain and improve your quality of life.

Chiropractic Care for Degenerative Disc Disease

The spine protects your entire central nervous system, which is responsible for all the muscle and organ functions within your body.

  • As the intervertebral discs shrink, the bones in your spine become misaligned. This triggers the nerves in your spine to misfire, resulting in pain, fatigue, and a host of other symptoms.

Through chiropractic care, Dr. Doyle performs spinal adjustments to promote healing. During these adjustments, he uses a variety of manual and mechanical techniques to gently correct misalignments.

Acupuncture to Improve Back Pain

Proper energy flow in the body affects your performance. Disruption of your energy flow increases pain and inflammation.

Acupuncture is a holistic treatment that involves inserting thin, sterilized needles into certain acupoints on the skin. When properly placed, these hair-thin needles stimulate and encourage proper energy flow.

Based on traditional Chinese medicine, acupuncture is a proven, effective tool to reduce neck and back pain.

Physical Therapy for Degenerative Disc Disease

Building up the muscles in your back can help your spine stay properly aligned and increases your mobility and flexibility.

Back and neck injuries frequently require the avoidance of strenuous exercise for a period of time. However, some exercises and stretching can be tremendously helpful.

Dr. Doyle can prescribe physical therapy exercises that you can perform at home or at the gym to strengthen your muscles. He can also provide myofascial release therapy. This treatment is a deep muscle massage technique that releases tension and improves your flexibility and function.

Lifestyle Improvements

Smoking and obesity can worsen degenerative disc disease. Dr. Doyle encourages the avoidance of smoking and tobacco products.

Dr. Doyle can prescribe a weight loss treatment plan designed specifically for your body that helps alleviate pressure on your spine. He also offers ear acupuncture, which speeds up your metabolism and promotes effective weight loss. In addition, he offers recommendations regarding vitamins and herbal supplements. Moreover, he can let you know about foods you should incorporate in your diet or avoid.

Dr. Doyle’s Chiropractic Treatment for Your Herniated Disc

Posted on 08.31.17 |

herniated disc painOften referred to as a slipped disc, a herniated disc is caused when the soft nucleus inside the center of a vertebra pushes through to the outside. This is a result from natural wear and tear or an injury. Many patients who experience a herniated disc report never noticing symptoms of this condition, while others explain back, leg, arm, and foot pain. Roanoke, TX chiropractor Dr. Cody Doyle non-surgically corrects herniated discs through musculoskeletal manipulation. After an extensive evaluation of your spine, Dr. Doyle will create an individualized treatment plan for you.

Rather than looking at the damaged section of the spine, Dr. Doyle considers the spine as a whole. He looks for signs of muscle loss or weakness, as well as checks the condition of your nerve paths through reflex testing. Your posture plays a large factor in his evaluation. At the end of your consultation, you can expect a detailed treatment plan for your herniated disc, along with a few suggested lifestyle changes.

Roanoke, TX chiropractor Dr. Doyle holistically manages your lower back pain through spinal manipulation to ease your discomfort. For more information, call 817-767-5430 to schedule your appointment today.

What Causes a Herniated Disc?

The most common cause for a herniated disc is aging. As you grow older, the jelly-like nucleus inside each vertebra dries up. This is referred to as disc degeneration and causes weakness. Like many other medical conditions, smokers are believed to have a higher risk of disc degeneration because less oxygen reaches the disc, which results in faster degeneration.

Other risk factors include:

  • Gender (men between 30 and 50 years of age)
  • Improper lifting
  • Weight (such as being overweight)
  • Staying seated for long periods of time

Herniated Disc Symptoms

Most of the time, a herniated disc is asymptomatic. However, some patients report muscle spasms, muscle weakness, extremity numbness, and pain in the back, arms, feet, and legs.

A herniated disc is the most common cause for back pain and sciatica (leg pain). With proper pain management, most patients experience relief after a few weeks.

Non-Surgical and Surgical Treatments

There are many methods for treating herniated discs. Some patients find relief through NSAIDs (nonsteriodal anti-inflammatory drugs), such as Tylenol or Advil. Non-surgical treatment also includes physical therapy or an epidural steroid injection. Dr. Doyle recommends rest and relaxation, along with regular chiropractic care. If your herniated disc is severe, Dr. Doyle may recommend you to a surgeon, where you will receive a microdiskectomy.

However, most patients find pain relief through chiropractic treatments. The most common method that Dr. Doyle will perform is the flexion-distraction technique. During this procedure, a special table is used to stretch the spine, or distract it. This technique incorporates gentle rhythmic pumping to help the nucleus back into its intended position inside the vertebra. Patients don’t feel discomfort when undergoing this procedure.

Your detailed treatment plan will include the most appropriate method for pain relief, as well as recommendations on managing herniated disc discomfort at home. Dr. Doyle will suggest various lifestyle changes to reduce your risk of slipping another disc. He will also recommend ways to live a healthier life, such as implementing a diet enriched with fruits and vegetables and daily exercises to practice.

Stress and Your Body

Stress is normal. Everyone experiences stress at some point in daily life, and it is an effective mechanism for compelling us to act quickly when we need to. However, it becomes problematic when we fail to properly manage that stress. In large amounts, stress can begin to wear down your overall health, leaving you with no sense of normal to return to. When you experience high levels of stress, large amounts of cortisol are produced, which strain your muscles and organs. Your body can only handle so much cortisol at one time, when there is an excess of cortisol in your system, your body becomes tense, resulting in aches, pains, and stiffness.

Stress can also raise your blood pressure by constricting your blood vessels. Over time, this can be dangerous because high blood pressure can lead to a stroke when left untreated. Along with raising your blood pressure, unmanaged stress can lead to a frequently upset stomach and insomnia, which can diminish your psychological health, as well as your physical health. These side effects of stress can interfere with your quality of life and productivity; therefore, it is important to manage stress intentionally and methodically.

Chiropractic Care and Stress

Dr. Doyle provides relief from the negative effects that stress takes on your body by targeting tense musculoskeletal points. He gently manipulates these tense points, allowing your body to feel relief from the high levels of stress and breaking up the excess amounts of cortisol. By using holistic and drug-free methods, Dr. Doyle non-invasively treats the root of your problems. Chiropractic care offers results that can’t be found with medication. Dr. Doyle will perform a comprehensive physical exam to ensure that he can work out the pains you’re feeling.

During chiropractic care, Dr. Doyle will manually manipulate your spine, which will reduce tight muscles. Along with relieving physical pain, treatments can improve the function of your nervous system. Your overall health will significantly improve upon meeting with Dr. Doyle for a chiropractic appointment. Our body systems are all linked together, meaning improving the function of one system will only provide positive results for other systems.

Before the end of your appointment, Dr. Doyle will provide you with a series of lifestyle changes and tips to manage your stress at home. Top 4 Causes of Shoulder Pain and Non-Invasive Treatments

Posted on 06.14.17 |

Businessman Suffering From RoanokeShoulder PainShoulder pain can be mildly frustrating and keep you from working out or fully enjoying activities, such as yoga, softball, or tennis. In more severe cases, it can be completely debilitating and prevent you from performing normal, daily tasks. Once your normal routine is interrupted or you can no longer perform work duties, it can be cause for great concern.

At Doyle Chiropractic & Acupuncture, we understand that any type of pain in your body can be alarming, which is why we offer a variety of treatments, including acupuncture, chiropractic care, and premodulated muscle stimulation to help reverse your symptoms and treat Roanoke shoulder pain. Determining the cause of shoulder pain as soon as it occurs can help prevent the issue from worsening, as well as create an opportunity for more affordable, non-invasive treatments to be administered. If pain is left unaddressed, not only can it increase, but it may require more invasive treatments, such as surgery.

Located across from Hawaiian Falls on Byron Nelson Parkway in Roanoke, TX, Doyle Chiropractic & Acupuncture serves patients from Trophy Club, Southlake, Keller, Grapevine, and the surrounding communities. Call us at 817-767-5430 to schedule your consultation today.

Below are the top four causes of shoulder pain and the non-invasive treatments we provide to address the issue.

Repetitive Activity

If you perform a daily task, such as throwing a ball, lifting boxes, or weightlifting, it can often lead to shoulder pain. It is estimated that repetitive motions are the root cause of over 50% of shoulder injuries. This type of injury not only causes pain and discomfort, but can result in loss of income.

Repetitive activity generally causes either bursitis or tendonitis. Due the nature of the injury, Dr. Cody Doyle will recommend that you stop performing the repetitive activity for a certain number of weeks to help alleviate inflammation within the nerves, joints, and muscles of the shoulder. He may also prescribe certain herbal supplements, acupuncture, chiropractic care, or myofascial release therapy.

Nerve Entrapment

When a nerved is “pinched” or entrapped in your spine or upper extremities, it can lead to neck and shoulder pain. Finding the source of the trapped nerve will help determine what type of treatment is best suited for your unique situation. One of the more common nerve entrapment injuries is suprascapular neuropathy. When this condition occurs, the suprascapular nerve that runs along the back of the shoulder is stretched or compressed to the point it can prevent your shoulder from fully functioning.

After a series of x-rays and tests to determine the location of your nerve entrapment, Dr. Doyle will provide a personalized treatment plan. This may include chiropractic care, ultrasound therapy, and acupuncture.

Arthritis

With age, the body’s joints tend to stiffen due to the breakdown of cartilage. This cushioning is designed to make range of motion smooth and seamless. However, once it begins to breakdown, it can cause the bones to rub together, causing pain and swelling. Although some forms of arthritis are inevitable, if your arthritis is linked to increased inflammation within your body, Dr. Doyle can adjust your diet and recommend certain herbal supplements to help reduce inflammation. In addition, he may also perform acupuncture, chiropractic adjustments, and myofascial release therapy to improve your range of motion.

Rotator Cuff Injury

The rotator cuff consists of a group of muscles and tendons that help provide stability and proper range of motion to the shoulder. When one or all of these muscles/tendons are injured, it can inhibit your shoulder mobility. Common symptoms of rotator cuff injury include pain when resting on the affected shoulder, pain when lifting the arm above the shoulder, pain when moving the shoulder away from the body, pain in the front or side of shoulder. In most cases, Dr. Doyle will review what activities cause you pain and limit those for a certain amount of weeks. He will then recommend a combination of treatments that may include acupuncture, myofascial release therapy, premodulated muscle stimulation, or proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation.

Do You Have Shoulder Pain?

If you are experiencing any type of shoulder pain, we recommend scheduling an appointment as soon as possible so as to determine the root of the issue. This will prevent the issue from worsening while also help provide immediate relief. Making your appointment at Doyle Chiropractic & Acupuncture in Roanoke, TX, is simple. Is Hip Pain Keeping You Down?

Posted on 06.14.17 |

hip pain illustrationPain anywhere in the body can disrupt daily life. Hip pain in particular can keep you in bed or on the sofa, because walking is uncomfortable – or even impossible. Chiropractic and acupuncture treatments are non-narcotic, non-invasive, natural therapies, and research has shown that both can be highly effective for treating hip pain. Dr. Cody Doyle, a Roanoke Tx chiropractor and acupuncture provider will work with you to reduce or eliminate hip pain and improve your quality of life.

Are you wondering, “Is there a chiropractor near me?” Dr. Doyle’s office is conveniently located across from Hawaiian Falls on Byron Nelson Parkway, in Roanoke, Tx 76262. He serves patients from Trophy Club, Southlake, Keller, Grapevine, and surrounding communities. Dr. Doyle previously practiced in North Richland Hills (NRH). Call us at 817-767-5430 to schedule your new patient consultation today, and learn how chiropractic and acupuncture can help with pain relief!

About Hip Pain

Our hips are the largest joints in the body, and they’re classified as ball in socket joints. When the hip hurts, the pain can be from the joint, bones, cushioning discs, ligaments, muscles, or nerves around the hip joint.

Most people feel hip pain on the inner, upper part of the leg or in the groin, but it can radiate to the knee, thigh, and front of the upper leg. A hernia in the groin may send radiating pain to the hips. In some cases, the pain is felt on the outer hip and in the glutes.

The SI joints, or sacroiliac joints, are located below the lumbar spine, and in some cases, SI pain can be confused with hip pain. Dr. Doyle can determine where your discomfort is actually located, to maximize the effectiveness of your treatment plan.

If your hip pain worsens with activity, arthritis may be the cause, and many types of arthritis that can develop in the hips. The most common reasons a person develops hip pain are arthritis, sciatica, fractures, bursitis (inflammation in the sac outside the hip) or tendinitis, or issues such as hernia, gynecological problems, or radiating back pain. Sciatica occurs when the sciatic nerve is damaged or stressed, and it causes pain to radiate to the low back, hips, and legs. Chiropractic care can often resolve sciatica pain and, in some cases, replace the need for surgical treatment.

Treatment Options

If hip pain is sudden, you cannot put weight on the hip, or you cannot move your leg, it’s time to see your doctor. Treatment by a medical doctor will be based upon the underlying cause of the hip pain.

People usually reach for over-the-counter pain medication, or NSAIDs, such as Tylenol, Motrin, Advil, or Nuprin, for pain relief. While these drugs work well, over use of NSAIDs can cause serious damage to the liver, kidneys, and digestive system. NSAIDs can contribute to headaches, dizziness, high blood pressure, ringing in the ears, and leg swelling. People who take NSAIDs regularly may bleed more heavily than others. In light of the side effects, ingesting these drugs too often or for too long is not recommended.

If you know why you have hip pain, and you’re going to have to endure the discomfort long-term, or the pain is a result of improper musculoskeletal alignment or inflammation, chiropractic and/or acupuncture treatments may help reduce your pain. In some cases, Dr. Doyle can eliminate hip pain.

How Chiropractic and Acupuncture Can Help

In 2010, a study published in the Journal of Manipulative and Physiological Therapeutics found that nine or more chiropractic treatments reduced arthritis symptoms in four out of five patients with hip pain. Arthritis comes with inflammation, and both chiropractic and acupuncture can reduce or relieve inflammation. Injury, illness, and over use of the hip joint may also cause inflammation.

For bone injuries, such as fractures and breaks, chiropractic and acupuncture can speed the healing process by reducing inflammation, increasing blood flow, and prompting the release of endorphins (nature’s pain killers).

Inflammation is your immune system’s response to a foreign stimulus. When an unknown stimulus could cause harm, your body creates inflammation in that region as a way to protect itself. Here are three common forms of inflammation that can lead to irritating joint pain.

Inflammatory Arthritis

Arthritis can easily be defined as inflammation of joints. When the white blood cells found in synovial fluid (joint fluid) become inflamed, the protective membrane surrounding your joints can thicken. This thickening damages the cartilage between joints and results in joint pain. This can also cause your joints to lose their shape and misalign. Although the exact cause of inflammatory arthritis is unknown, poor nutrition, genetics, and stress have all been linked to this condition. The most common form of inflammatory arthritis is rheumatoid arthritis. .

Osteoarthritis

Throughout your life, your body will feel the effects of normal wear and tear. The simple routines of life put our bodies through a lot, and over time this can result in osteoarthritis. Cartilage cushions our joints; when it begins to deteriorate, you will experience a feeling of stiffness in your joints. The degeneration of cartilage between your joints can eventually lead to bones rubbing against one another, causing a painful response.

Leaky Gut Syndrome

Another name for this medical disorder is intestinal permeability. Leaky gut syndrome is the result of damage to the lining of the small intestine, causing undigested food, toxins, and bacteria to leak into the blood stream. This can cause a slew of painful symptoms, one of which is joint pain. Joint pain may seem to be unrelated to digestion, but has been linked to inflammation and rheumatoid arthritis, so it’s worth considering as a possible source.

Dr. Doyle’s Non-Invasive Approach

Roanoke, TX chiropractor Dr. Doyle uses a variety of non-invasive treatment methods to manage joint pain. A common method that he will use is myofascial release therapy, which among many other things improves your joint’s range of motion and flexibility. During this therapy, Dr. Doyle will apply pressure to various connective tissues and muscles in your body.

Along with myofascial release, Dr. Doyle will incorporate chiropractic care, acupuncture, and deep muscle stretching. Chiropractic care uses musculoskeletal manipulation to relieve pain and tension found within the body. Acupuncture redirects energy within the body for pain relief and management. These non-invasive approaches will manage your joint pain and alleviate pain in other areas of your body.

Don’t go another day with joint pain; schedule your chiropractic appointment with Roanoke, TX chiropractor Dr. Doyle today to non-invasively manage your pain. Call 817-767-5430.
