Treatment Methods – Complementary Therapies

At Doyle Chiropractic & Acupuncture, Dr. Cody Doyle may recommend a variety of complementary therapies, in addition to chiropractic care and acupuncture. These alternative treatments all work together to help your body heal, recover, and function more optimally. These may include physical therapy, as well as a combination of any of the following treatments.

Dr. Doyle will work with you to develop a customized health plan to establish your treatment and help you achieve your goals. Your overall plan will depend on the specifics of your particular condition, physical examination findings, nutritional status, goals, and your personal preferences.

Nutritional Therapies

Depending on the cause of your condition, a personalized nutritional plan may be advised. We should all eat healthy, but the goal willl be to help you feel better, heal, reduce or eliminate chronic pain, and reach your weight loss goals. Each plan varies because we’re all different.

Herbal Therapies

In addition to a healthy diet, Dr. Doyle will recommend vitamins and natural supplements to complement your overall treatment plan. For example, a commonly used spice called turmeric can be used to assist with inflammation within the body. Many medical doctors today are now recommending the intentional use of supplements with known health benefits, such as garlic and omega-3 oils. The supplements Dr. Doyle recommends will vary from patient to patient based on your unique health concerns and complaints.

Premodulated Muscle Stimulation

This treatment uses electrical stimulation to reduce muscle spasms, discomfort, and swelling on soft tissue and muscle injuries. Also referred to as premodulated current physical therapy, this treatment is frequently used by athletes and can be used to treat sciatica, fibromyalgia, arthritis, TMD, carpal tunnel syndrome, and many other conditions.

Ultrasound Therapy

Therapeutic ultrasound therapy can reduce muscle pain and increase range of motion by delivering deep heat to the underlying impaired muscles and tissues. As a complement to physical therapy, ultrasound therapy treats muscles, tendons, joints, and ligaments.

Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF)

This treatment involves a combination of deep stretching exercises to improve flexibility and range of motion that have been inhibited through injury or surgery.

Detoxification Programs

Our bodies can be filled with unhealthy toxins known to increase inflammation and contribute to chronic pain, weight gain, fatigue, and a host of other concerns. Dr. Doyle’s detoxification program will help you naturally purify your body and help you maintain a healthy lifestyle.

Home Exercise Programs

In addition to routine in-office care, Dr. Doyle will provide you with at-home physical therapy exercises to speed up your recovery and help you reach your health goals. If your physical condition is related to excess body weight, your home exercise and nutritional therapy recommendations will work hand-in-hand to restore proper function and remove the causes of your pain.

Complementary Therapies – What to Expect

During your initial consultation, Dr. Doyle will perform a detailed physical examination. He will pay careful attention to your medical history and current health concerns, lifestyle habits, and stress levels.

Once the issue has been diagnosed, Dr. Doyle will create a personalized treatment plan to get you started on your healing path. The first step is removing anything hindering your body from naturally healing itself. In addition to chiropractic and/or acupuncture treatment and the complementary therapies mentioned above, Dr. Doyle may also recommend lifestyle changes for better ergonomics and to help you minimize stress.
