Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDS), such as Tylenol or Advil, dont always treat your daily pains. Even when they do give you some relief, theyre not necessarily great chemicals to put into your body on an on-going basis. Chiropractic care is a drug-free alternative for treating pain andaches within your body. By gently realigning your spine, Roanoke chiropractor, Dr. Cody Doyle, can ease your arthritis pain, neck and back pain, and even solve those painful migraines that youve been experiencing. Dr. Doyle does all of this without adding any chemicals or medications to your routine.

What is Chiropractic Care?
Our spines are responsible for more than just our posture; they act as a receptive place in our bodies for messages to be received from the brain. Your central nervous system is responsible for sending messages from your brain to your body, and all of those messages pass through your spine. By gently manipulating the vertebrae in your spine, Dr. Doyle can treat multiple medical conditions. Chiropractic care can ease your discomfort caused from arthritis, stress and anxiety, peripheral neuropathy, and can potentially even help you with that pesky weight gain problem that you may have.
What to Expect
Our spine is made up of 24 moveable vertebrae. When the vertebrae are misaligned, we experience pain in different areas of our body. Dr. Doyle will begin your consultation by conducting a physical examination. He will ask you questions regarding your daily lifestyle, as well as how much stress you endure daily. Stress can cause our bodies a lot of pain, so this is an important factor to be honest about. We all experience stress; its actually normal and can help us be motivated to address important issues. But when we dont manage our stress appropriately, it can throw our spinal alignment off, causing our bodies physical discomfort.
Next Dr. Doyle will take x-rays of various parts of your spine to see where the misalignment is. This will give him a better idea of where to perform chiropractic adjustments on your spine, to optimize your results. Dr. Doyle will create a personalized treatment plan for you. This treatment plan will include spinal manipulation, but it could also include recommendations on how to live a healthier, less uncomfortable life.
After discussing your unique treatment plan with you, he will begin the chiropractic adjustments. You may hear your spine cracking and popping when he performs these adjustments, but its nothing to be afraid of! Believe it or not, but those noises are a good sign. They means that your spine was really in need of an adjustment. You should leave the appointment feeling loose and relaxed.
How Often Should I Go?
The frequency of your treatments is something that Dr. Doyle will discuss with you when he explains your treatment plan, however it is good to know that as your discomfort eases, you can decrease the number of times you seek spinal adjustments. Its safe to go to the chiropractor up to 3 or 4 times a week, but of course, not everyone requires that much spinal attention.
Dr. Doyle may recommend that you seek chiropractic treatment for as little as once to multiple times a week. This is a great question to ask him when you talk about your treatment plan. Your body is one of a kind; therefore we cant specifically recommend your treatment frequency without a detailed analysis.
